This two-year project has arisen from the need for improvements at the level of innovative pedagogical practices in education by all the partners, Turkey, the Netherlands, Romania, Lithuania and Spain.
We all have strengths and aspects to be improved in our pedagogical practices. Therefore, we, the project partner schools, would like to share our best practices with one another and also with teachers from other European countries. That will allow us to increase the European dimension of our schools. Having debated on these issues on virtual environment, we have come to the conclusion that each one of nine partners has knowledge about effective flipped learning practices and the preparation of flipped instructional materials and assessment of flipped lessons that all the others want to acquire in order to improve their own teaching practices. Especially having all levels of educational system, including K-12 and the tertiary level will widen our horizon and viewpoints to make an overall contribution to the educational system of each partner country.
By conducting this project and sharing the best practices, we will be able to promote collaborative learning and enhance critical thinking, and problem solving skills among our students and to get them actively engaged in their learning process and take responsibility for it. The collaboration that we will maintain among the nine institutions will provide opportunities for the learners both from K12 students and pre-service teachers (university students) to construct knowledge collaboratively when working together on tasks and help them develop key skills and competencies such as using ICT in learning, communicating in English, managing teamwork, developing cultural competencies, improving language learning, promoting tolerance.
Thanks to mobilities, we will be able to compare and contrast innovative and technology integrated language teaching and learning, values of education, school organization and curriculum in the real life environment.
These practices are expected to be implemented for many years to come, thus ensuring the sustainability of this project since the whole project is based upon providing K-12 teachers and pre-service teachers with innovative teaching practices on Flipped Instruction.
The impact sphere of the project is expected to be extensive covering not only the participants directly involved in the project but also other stakeholders who are more likely to benefit from our intellectual outputs and products such as the Flipped Kit, web page and research paper on flipped instruction.
Each country agreed on creating a commission or committee to select people who are going to participate in mobilities, to evaluate the project and to spread the results out, to intervene in an emergency and to control the budget. Additionally, each aspect of the project will be evaluated monthly. We will also make an overall evaluation after the transnational meetings and the learning and teaching activities. Besides, different commissions will meet in each country and they will report an inform with the evaluation of all the events and activities mentioned above.
This project requires the active participation of both teachers and students in all L/T/T activities, which gives them the opportunities to be engaged in hands-on-practices based on different aspect of flipped learning and ICT competencies. The participants will be able to personalize and internalize their experiences, share and exchange their new insights on flipped learning with their peers in multicultural learning and teaching environments. Moreover, “Flipped Impact” will go one step further and spread its intellectual outputs that are Flipped Kit, web page and research paper throughout the European countries via using the power of web 2.0 tools and social media.
