IQAIST: Improving Quality and Accessibility in In-Service Trainings for Teachers

THE PROJECT

The mainstream teacher training context shows that nowadays there is a glaring lack of enough opportunities for professional development of teaching staff, a very fragmented offer, lack of the quality criteria for inservice training and a lack of awareness among educational staff on lifelong learning opportunities offered by the European Union. IQAIST aims to address this gap and to contribute to change for the better and respond to the educational staff current needs.

Our objectives are to increase accessibility of teachers to in-service trainings and raise the accessibility of high quality and tailored in-service training. Our sub-objectives to achieve this are:

  • The creation of an online platform containing high quality and tailored in-service training offer for teachers;
  • enhance greater cooperation between schools and training providers;
  • develop a joint definition of teacher-centered quality criteria for inservice trainings tailored for teachers.

AIMS:

IQAIST aims to strengthen professional profile of the teaching staff by increasing the access of teachers to high quality and teacher-centered tailored in-service trainings. A mixed partnership was created between Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, Romania & Turkey in order to ensure direct access both to training providers and teaching professionals and to establish a strong peer-to-peer cooperation enriching cross-sectoral perspective.
